EXTENSION OF MORTGAGE STAMP DUTY RELIEF FOR DROUGHT AFFECTED FARMERS
On 25 October 2006, the Government announced a drought assistance package for South Australia’s farming communities.
One of the measures announced was ex gratia mortgage stamp duty relief for farmers who refinance their loans as a result of the drought.
The original mortgage stamp duty relief was only available in relation to loans applied for between 25 October 2006, and ending on 31 December 2007.
The Government has approved an extension of the ex gratia mortgage stamp duty relief to 1 July 2009.
The conditions relating to the eligibility of applicants, and the application process have not altered as a result of the extension of the mortgage stamp duty relief. Full details are available in RevenueSA’s Circular No. 274.
