I am a Self Funded Retiree

As a self-funded retiree who holds a South Australian State Seniors card you may be entitled to a concession on your Emergency Services Levy (ESL) and council rates.

You may also be entitled to other concessions which are not administered by RevenueSA. You can find out more about these from the Department for Families and Communities website or by accessing their Concession Finder.

Emergency Services Levy

The Emergency Services Levy is a levy on all real estate in South Australia and some vehicles for funding emergency services across the state so they can continue to save lives and property. Pensioners, people receiving an eligible Centrelink benefit and self-funded retirees (with a South Australian State Seniors Card) may be eligible for a concession of up to $46 on the ESL on their principal place of residence. Council Rate Concession

As a self-funded retiree who holds a South Australian State Seniors Card you may be eligible for a concession of up to a maximum of $100 on your council rates per annum. You should check your council rate notice to see whether a concession has already been applied in the calculation of the amount payable.  If there is no existing concession, an application form can be downloaded here or posted to you by RevenueSA (Ph: 1300 366 150).

If eligible, the first year you receive a council rate concession it will be paid in the form of a cheque issued directly to you by RevenueSA. Your council rates notice will not be re-issued and should still be paid in accordance with the due date shown on the notice.

In future years, RevenueSA will advise your council of your concession entitlement prior to council rate invoicing and the concession will then be shown as a reduction in the calculation of your council rates. Read More...
